Looking at the 14-50p Outlet Plug (240 volt) that is on my wall the top one is ground (round pin), left one is hot #1 at 120 volt, the right one is hot #2 at 120 volt and the neutral is on the bottom. Combine hot #1 and hot #2 at the appliance will get 240 volt. This plug does not combine the hot #1 and #2; hot #1 goes to yellow receptacles 120V and hot #2 goes to grey receptacles 120V on this extension cord. 4 stars for 120V outlets not sitting flush against the wall, I tried to twist it but it sprang back. In addition, I prefer a black cord vs a orange cord. Overall, great cord so far and would buy again and recommend to a friend. 3 people found this helpful J.
