From the very first page it is obvious that the writer has no clue as to sentence structure, grammar or punctuation. It is also obvious that the author is writing English that is not his native language. It would have been wonderful if he had used an editor that could have help make the content at least readable.
I shared the book with an experienced Extre ham and a relative new Technician. Each of these put the book down after reading a few pages remarking "how can you read this mess" and "it made my head hurt trying to understand". One star is for the great cover.

Incoherent syntax. Probably couldn''t find a proof-reader that could decipher.
Self published. I didn''t read the other reviews and got snookered.
Buy a pizza instead of buying this word scramble.

Author “Jack Campbell” should get his money back from his editor. But some other book, there are many. 5 people found this helpful Helpful Report R. Zoller1.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase You have to be kidding me Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2016 Could not even complete the introduction. This must have been translated from another language without being proofread. Or it was written by someone who did not have an even basic understanding of the English language. I''m asking for a refund. 18 people found this helpful Helpful Report Croush3.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase Poorly written Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2016 The author really needed an editor. I don''t know enough about ham radio to know whether his advice is sound; to some extent the information gets lost in the poor writing. 9 people found this helpful Helpful Report cull watts2.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase Ultimate, more like incomplete Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2017 From beginners starts out ok. Expert needs to be revisited.
Basic would be more realistic for the entire selection.
Vaguely explaining a subject would be a better description.
Dated material from start to finish.

I was expecting more from this crappy little book than what I got when I opened the pages. Firstly this book was much smaller than I expected and secondly the grammar seems to be of something that was poorly translated. The information in this book is minimal and only gives a vague outline of HAM radio. Something one would expect from a kindergarten level story time book. I also noticed that the book was manufactured by Amazon and not a more well known publisher. I do not recommend this book at all. Report MICHAEL J QUENTEL2.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase Sort of a quick introduction as to how you might like amateur radio. I am a bit disappointed. The first part of the book goes into the usual content about how amateur radio is such a wonderful and inclusive hobby. Then there is a huge, unclearly explained part about Q codes and examples of making contact and chatting. Then briefly touches on Morse Code. And then about obtaining a set; and so on. Overall, this is not the book I was expecting. It is an ok introduction, but not as useful as I had hoped. Report Jason1.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase Poorly Written Reviewed in Canada on December 30, 2021 Although well intended, the book isn’t much of a guide. It’s as if the author had his Ham Radio thoughts translated into English and forgot to edit the grammar. It’s hard to read and I have a thirsty technical aptitude. I’m disappointed. Keep searching.
