The product arrived today. The installation instructions worked fine.

I especially like two things.
1) The remote has an on button and an off button so you do not have to be looking at the controlled appliance to know that you have achieved ON or OFF.
2) The receiver/switch box has a push button, so you are not limited to controlling the appliance with the remote. These put the HBN head and shoulders above other similar units on Amazon, which cost no less.

I was going to take points off on the remote because, the remote''s battery is an odd size: A23. However Amazon has a good selection of A23''s at reasonable prices. So full marks to HBN.

I was confused by the reference in the downloadable copy of the user manual to a "12V 23A" battery for the remote. It is actually a 12 V battery, but 23A is the style, also called A23, not the current rating. There would be less or no confusion if there were a picture of the battery in the description (or the manual).

I am writing this immediately after receiving the device, so I cannot include reliability data. I promise to update the review if anything untoward happens with it. So as time goes on take the lack of an update as evidence for reliability. It makes no sense, but two appliances, three instances, all immediately after using the remote control. Meanwhile, both appliances are only one year old and have had no issues before, days in between, and days after using them remote control. I do know both appliances have sophisticated electronic controls. I’m wondering if the remote switch is somehow emitting a signal that interferes with electronics. I’m not going to try a third time as I am afraid of damaging expensive appliances. I can’t explain it.

Original Review: Plugged my woodworking shop dust collector into this unit and velcro’d the little remote to the furnace duct above my table saw. Works great! Now I don’t have to walk all the way across my shop to turn on and off my rather loud dust collector.

Unit came nicely packaged. The battery was separate in a small plastic zip lock bag. Took longer to unbox than to install the battery and plug it in. Very nice for the price. Case and cord are very stiff and heavy duty. This would probably survive quite well outdoors, and I don’t expect dust in my wood shop well be able to get inside. No programming required, but it came with well written instructions in case I ever do. I want to provide another review of this fountain remote control. For the first couple of days it was difficult to turn on. BUT, since then it has worked great. We turn our fountain on and off daily and this remote control has worked perfectly since then. At this point I would recommend this item to anyone looking for a good remote control and if I need to replace it I will do so with same item.
