The Marvel Legacy of Jack Kirby is a nice looking book. I may not live long enough to read it because I don''t seem to read the anthologies that I buy. I have real life stuff to do instead. If I win the lottery or if someone leaves me some money when they die then maybe I''ll have some time to worry about looking comic book anthologies, etc, over properly. All I can say is the book is quite wide and the hardcover is covered with Jack Kirby art. The book also comes in a nice book holder which is also of good quality. I heard in a YouTUbe video these books were being sold very cheaply at Ollies Bargain Outlet. I really don''t go anywhere so I just paid a lot more and bought it for $20 something online. I buy this stuff on impulse it seems. It''s me trying to connect with my childhood or something. I have a small library of these anthologies, Jack Kirby, Amazing Spiderman, The Hulk, Daredevil, House of Mystery, Iron Man, Kamandi, Captain Marvel. I haven''t read most of this stuff. It puts me to sleep. I bought the first volume of She Hulk and I want to get rid of it because the stories were so poorly written. I just can''t read it. It is insultingly poor writing and story development and the characters look the same. Just garbage. At LEAST Jack Kirby was a GREAT ARTIST. Sometimes his stories were also lame but these stories were not really meant for the late 50''s critical male reader. The stories were meant for children who wouldn''t have been able to follow a real deep plot. The Marvel Legacy of Jack Kirby is a nice collectors volume. Buy it. Put it on a shelf. Forget about it. Let your kids inherit it or sell it at a yard sale after you are gone.

As others have said, there are no complete comics here, just Kirby''s great art pieces that are first divided into Kirby''s three Marvel eras, then subdivided by the comics: i.e. Fantastic Four, Thor, etc. However, for what should be an important overview of Kirby''s accomplishments, the writer John Rhett Thomas really needed someone to help him write. There are a fair amount of obvious informational gaffs: (i.e. Alicia Masters is stated to be the Puppet Master''s niece and not his stepdaughter) and some spots needing someone, somewhere, to proofread: (i.e. the listed original five X-Men are called a "quartet"!)
The other drawback to this collection: Since it''s an overview of Kirby''s legacy, how about some original reprints of his pencil art? Once thing is very clear: the readers can see how various inkers either helped or hurt the King of Comics. For those who haven''t seen some, his original pencil work really shows the emotional intensity that Kirby put into his art.

It''s a decent compilation that is more historical than it is illustrative. The art pieces in the book mark key points in Kirby''s life, but not the best pieces that have made him the KING.

I was looking forward to this book and it did NOT disappoint. Well laid-out and representative of Jack at his best, this is a colorful immersion into the genius of Jack Kirby. Effective commentary as well. A+.

This book is a veritable treasure chest of great Kirby art from his early days at timely till his last stint at marvel in the late 70''s. Each page is jam packed with Kirby art showcasing his great covers to single pages of his work. This is not the book to buy if you are looking for a reference book or biographical book. It is solely devoted to his art. It does have text but only to flesh out the art. It also has tidbits of info for example did you know that he drew 119 pages for the November 1961 comics that marvel published that month. The quality of the book is amazing. The price is excellent, so what are you waiting for. The reason I gave 4 stars is because I would have appreciated a little more text. Apart from that the book is a great buy.
